INHABITANTS
BFA Thesis Exhibition, Western Michigan University, 2022
As inhabitants of this floating rock that we call home, we are fortunate to share this space. Striving to understand the grand scheme, we create domestic spheres that set the stage for observing the dynamics of destruction and growth.
Inhabitants explores a developing understanding of the world and its conceptual framework rooted within our immediate environments. Like a house, our minds are structures within the body that attempt to meet our basic needs by constructing a façade of safety and shelter within the world. We compose our identities as we navigate and compete with a constant flow of interactions from the surrounding environment. Amidst many systems driven by survival, the tenacity of the human spirit is influenced by our perception of safety and motivates specific behavior to maintain a sense of overall wellbeing.
I invite you to embrace an open-minded ideology and inhabit this space, experiencing your humanity as you remember what it means to live and to die.
